Flower CarpetTM Yellow
Introducing the vibrant, new Flower CarpetTM Yellow ground cover rose, the sixth in a series of Flower CarpetTM roses first introduced in 1992 by Anthony Tesselaar International. Flower CarpetTM Yellow shares the impressive level of natural disease resistance of its Flower Carpet TM cousins, but its bush-like quality and lively yellow blooms make it a unique member of the group. This rose has some exceptional qualities that will make it a successful addition to the Flower Carpet TM range.
Flowers and Colour
Flower CarpetTM Yellow is a new ground cover rose with buttercup yellow, semi-double flowers and dark yellow stamens. Its rich blossoms remain vibrant for days before turning a softer shade of yellow. With up to two thousand flowers per season on a mature bush, and continuous flowering, Flower CarpetTM Yellow looks fabulous whether planted en masse, individually, or as a border.
Foliage
The glossy green foliage covering Flower CarpetTM Yellow continues to look fresh all season long.
Plant Size
These rose bushes grow quickly during spring, with branches freely springing away from the centre of the bush. Flower CarpetTM Yellow grows 80 to 90 cm (32 - 36") high and 60 cm (24") wide once established.
Easy Plant Care
Flower CarpetTM Yellow is regarded as nearly foolproof! This rose thrives in a variety of soil conditions, but performs best in well-cultivated soil containing compost. All you have to do is water, fertilize once or twice a year, and cut back the foliage in early spring. Flower CarpetTM will do the rest.
Watering: Keep well-watered, particularly during hot summer months.
Fertilizer: A handful of balanced rose food in early spring, and again in mid-summer will ensure your rose produces its full potential of blooms each season. In cold climates, avoid feeding roses in late summer and fall as the extra nutrients will encourage new growth and increase the chance of cold damage over winter.
Trimming: No fancy pruning is required. Simply use any shears or clippers to cut the plant back to about half or a third of its overall size in late winter or early spring. Also, cut out any dead wood after winter. It is not necessary to dead-head old blooms, but you can trim at any time in the season to keep the plant at its best.
Optimal Planting Conditions
Plant three to four roses per square metre (yard) in full sun or partial shade to use as a ground cover. To establish boundaries in the garden, plant roses 60 to 90 cm (2 - 3') apart . Flower CarpetTM Yellow roses can be planted at any time during the spring, summer or fall. This rose will thrive in USDA zones 5 to 11. In cold zones, protect over the first winter. In zones 6 and below, continued winter protection is advised. In areas of intense heat (for example Phoenix, AZ) protect by planting in semi-shade.
