Flower Carpet TM Scarlet

Vibrant red double blooms cover Flower Carpet TM Scarlet all summer long. This spectacular rose produces an unending display of blooms from late spring right into fall. Once established, Flower Carpet TM Scarlet will over-winter successfully in zone 5 and is able tolerate the heat in the south and south east.

Flowers and Colour

Small buds open to reveal masses of vibrant red double blooms. Mature plants can produce clusters of six to eight blooms, with each cluster measuring up to 30 cm (12") across. A single plant can bear two thousand blooms during the course of a season.

Foliage

These compact rose bushes are covered with dark, glossy green foliage.

Plant Size

Flower Carpet TM Scarlet forms a low, dense, compact bush, with a mature height of 30 to 75 cm (24 - 30") and width of 90 cm (36").

Easy Plant Care

Watering: Keep well-watered. Flower Carpet TM Scarlet will withstand dry conditions once established.

Fertilizer: Give each rose a handful of balanced rose food in early spring, and again in mid-summer to ensure your plants produce their full potential of blooms each season. In cold climates, avoid feeding roses in late summer and fall, as the extra nutrients will encourage new growth and increase the chance of cold-damage over winter.

Trimming: Trim an established plant back to approximately 25 to 30 cm (10 - 12") from its base or to a third of its size in late winter or early spring. Lightly trim with hedging shears any time throughout the flowering season to shape your rosebush.

Optimal Planting Conditions

Flower Carpet TM Scarlet grows best in full sun. It will grow well in partial shade (4-5 hours of sun per day), but its number of blooms will be reduced. Space two to three plants per square metre (yard) for ground cover. Plant them 60 to 90 cm (24 - 36") apart to establish boundaries. Flower Carpet TM roses can be planted any time during spring, summer or fall. The bush is self-cleaning; no dead-heading is needed.
